In another of the large industries of Paris, which has been conducted under the management of Mr. W. A. Hill since 1855. Mr. Hill, after learning his trade in Dayton, Ohio, went to Marietta, Ohio, from which place he came to Paris, fifty years ago.
He is one of the few, really practical men in this business, in Central Kentucky. He has designed and erected a large number of the handsomest monuments in Central Kentucky cemeteries and his work is its own best advertisement. He makes a specialty of fine lettering on granite and marble, new designs of modern and up to date memorials. His workmanship, excellency of material and honest business principles, has made his name noted among his patrons. His prices are exceedingly reasonable for first class work.
Mr. Hill does not or never has handled shoddy material. He picks the very best grade of granite and marble, selects manufactures of integrity and reputation to build his work, and when the finished production is set up and his customers inspect their work in the cemetery, they can not help but be pleased, for it is 100 percent quality. Mr. Hill represents the largest granite and marble works in Vermont and the New England granite centers. He employs only skilled workmen who are paid well to do the work.
At present Mr. Hill has a large number of monuments under construction and orders for many more. This establishment is well equipped in mechanical skill and experience, to supply in a highly satisfactory manner all designs in cemetery art work. They carry in stock a large number of finished pieces, which gives a correct idea of their skills and prices. Upon request they will submit designs and specifications for special work.
Mr. Hill is assisted in the management of his business by his son W. A. Hill Jr. who is one of the hustling and progressive young business men of our city. He is also special correspondent for the Louisville Times and other metropolitan papers.
